Oracl Cwrwgl//Conwy //Coracle Conversations

Sut mae’r Cwrwgl Conwy yn ein helpu i gael sgyrsiau da am ddŵr croyw?
Mae cwryglau wedi cael eu defnyddio ers cannoedd o flynyddoedd yn Nyffryn Conwy. Maent yn cynrychioli cysylltiad agos rhwng pobl a'r amgylchedd, yn eu gwneuthuriad ac yn eu defnydd. Ac roedd Cwrwgl Conwy yn unigryw (wel, anarferol o leiaf) gan ei fod wedi'i gynllunio ar gyfer dau berson: y lle neu'r symbol perffaith ar gyfer sgyrsiau dŵr croyw!
Yng Ngwanwyn 2025, adeiladodd a lansiwyd Oracl Cwrwgl Conwy cyntaf, gan adeiladu elfennau sgwrsio i'r dyluniad ‘gwead basged’ traddodiadol.
Ers hynny rydym wedi bod yn defnyddio Cwrcwl Sgwrs Conwy ar gyfer pysgota am neu 'gasglu' gwahanol safbwyntiau, ac archwilio'r cwestiynau y mae Gofod Glas wedi bod yn eu casglu.
How is the Conwy Coracle helping us have good conversations about freshwater?
Coracles have been used for hundreds of years in the Conwy Valley. They represent an intimate connection between people and the environment, in their making and in their use. And the Conwy coraclewas unique (well, unusual at least) in that it was designed for two people: the perfect space or symbol for freshwater conversations!
In Spring 2025, a group of volunteers in Llanrwst builtand launchedthe first Conwy Conversational Coracle, building conversational elements into the traditional ‘basket weave’ design.
Since then we have been using the Conwy Conversational Coracle for fishing for or ‘gathering in’ different perspectives, and exploring the questions Gofod Glas has been collecting.
Mae Oracl Cwrwgl Conwy bellach ar gael ar gyfer sgwrs!
Oes gennych chi fater yr hoffech chi ei archwilio o wahanol safbwyntiau? Ymunwch â ni a’r Eog Doeth am sgwrs yn y cwrwgl.
Gallwch hefyd enwebu pobl ar gyfer sgwrs am ddŵr croyw yn y cwrwgl.
Rydym hefyd yn gobeithio adeiladu mwy o gwryglau mewn gwahanol gymunedau yn ardal Dyffryn Conwy.
Os hoffech i ni ddod i'ch cymuned neu ddigwyddiad, neu i enwebu sgwrs, anfonwch e-bost at Lindsey.
The Conwy Conversational Coracle is now available for conversation!
Do you have an issue you’d like to explore from different points of view? Join us and the Salmon of Knowledge for a conversation in the coracle.
You can also nominate people for a conversation about freshwater in the coracle.
We also hope to build more coracles in different communites in the Conwy Valley area.
If you would like us to come to your community or event, or to nominate a conversation, please email Lindsey

The first Conwy Conversational Coracle was built in Llanrwst, using willow in March 2025. It was built to the original Conwy Coracle design by a team of volunteers (including Ilsa Elford, Vicky Atkinson, Dave Rimmer and Urtha Felda) and led by Lindsey Colbourne and seasoned coracle builder, James Carpenter. Many others took part in the build and the launch.
There’s a historical precident for trying to use a coracle for conflict resolution!
"With the approach of the investiture of the Prince of Wales in 1969, efforts were made to seek a political solution.
Denis Coslett of the Free Wales Army invited the Prime Minister Harold Wilson to meet him for coracle based discussions in the middle of the River Tywi but this invitation was declined."
